About What I Do
In my professional practice I am dedicated to you as an individual. I work with a range of nutrition and health related concerns, however I specialize in working with weight loss, body image, chronic dieting, and disordered eating. Many of my clients are surprised to discover that food and weight have been on their minds 24/7 for decades and they’ve been stuck in a cycle that’s holding them back from living the lives they’re meant to live. How much of your mental energy has been spent on obsessing over food and weight? What would you be doing with that energy if it was freed up for other things? Life is simply too short to spend it obsessing about food. Freeing your mind of that obsession is profoundly liberating and I believe it’s within reach for everyone.
Conventional dieting has a proven failure rate of 98%. Yet we continue to return to this methodology again and again. My work guides you out of traditional dieting through a blend of holistic functional nutrition, mind body nutrition, behavioral eating psychology, and intuitive and mindful eating. My strategies are not a quick fix, but they do offer an effective and sustainable approach that embraces all of who you are in mind, body, heart and soul. My technique often feels similar to a counseling session as we explore your eating and dieting history and the ways in which it has woven through all aspects of your life.

Furthermore, healing our relationship with food often requires us to dig even deeper than the above mentioned topics because the way we eat is often symbolic of the way we’re living. We use food to cope, to self-soothe, and to ground ourselves. We use food to numb the pain of loneliness, relieve the sting of rejection, and ease the ache of boredom. Food can easily become a drug and attempting to change what we eat becomes an ineffective strategy if we’re not changing the way we live. We often think this process happens in reverse and that we can’t live the lives we’re meant to until we reach our health and weight goals, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Living your authentic life now is what sets you up for successfully achieving your goals.
